Hydro Excavation

Locate, Expose and Protect with Hydro-Excavation

During the hydro excavation process, high-pressure water and air is used to break up and cut through soil, rocks, clay, ice, gravel and other earth material. At the same time, a high-flow vacuum system removes the material from the excavation area.  This non destructive method of excavation is able to safely and efficiently uncover utilities such as pipelines, water mains, fiber optic lines, cables, and other dangerous utilities. The nature of this unique method of excavation virtually avoids all damage that can happen with traditional mechanical digging.

  Advantages of Hydro Excavation

  • Protects valuable infrastructure
  • High degree of safety over traditional methods
  • Minimal restoration required
  • Clean, precise cut
  • Low environmental impact
  • Minimal site restoration
  • Less backfill material required
  • Reduced labour force required
  • Penetrate frozen ground

Hydro-Excavation Applications

  • Pipeline trenches
  • Utility pole holes
  • Frost cutting
  • Utility line exposure / locating
  • Close proximity excavation
  • Exposure of unmarked utilities
  • Excavation for building footings
  • Material removal in confined spaces
